Design has the power to connect our current realities with our collective imaginaries and dreams.
Hello! I’m Helen — a hybrid experience and visual designer. I’m passionate about the ways in which design can mediate our experiences within the world—whether it be through a digital interface, a new material, a service, or an environment.
My approach to problem-solving is holistic, strategic, and research-oriented. As a designer background in curation, project management, and strategy—my practice is about balancing creativity with practicality as well as function with emotion. I believe that innovation comes from interdisciplinary thinking and inspiration can always be found in the most unexpected places. I design with an open mind and am always looking to learn new skills and methods.
When I'm not designing for work, I enjoy traveling to new places, reading about emerging technologies, going to art exhibitions, and trying out recipes from Noma’s Guide to Fermentation.
I recently complete a two-year MFA in Products of Design at the School of Visual Arts, where I spent the final year working on a thesis titled Fruiting Bodies: Fungal Futures for Collaborative Survival. Have a look at my Are.na page for my research-in-progress.
I am always seeking opportunities to use design as an agent of social innovation and as a catalyst for paradigm shifts.
